Solid Objects is a collection of objects and their cultural life, where the roles of the object, artist, collector, museum, writer, publisher and curator are suspended and reemerge in other possible forms. In this work, the text becomes an object, the pocket a museum, the collection a persona, the artist a curator, the writer a sign. While the paradigm of creativity embraces intangibility, the physical object will not disappear. So how, really, are these objects made? What lives will they be part of and live? Exploring the notion of ‘the thing’ can also be a way to reflect on larger things such as art, knowledge and culture, and how their constant commodification and simplification affect our relationship with the most basic of physical objects. How does a thing, even without commitment, temporarily become an art object?

Solid Objects är en föremålssamling och dess kulturella liv, där föremålets, konstnärens, samlarens, museets, författarens, förläggarens och curatorns roller upphör och återuppstår i andra möjliga former. I detta verk blir texten ett föremål, fickan ett museum, samlingen en varelse, konstnären dess curator, författaren ett tecken. Samtidigt som kreativitetens paradigm omfamnar det immateriella försvinner inte de fysiska föremålen. Så hur tillverkas dessa föremål? Vilka liv kommer de att bli en del av och leva? Ett utforskande av uppfattningen om ”tinget” kan även vara ett sätt att reflektera över de större tingen, såsom konst, kunskap och kultur och hur deras ständiga förenkling och förvandling till varor påverkar vårt förhållande till de mest grundläggande fysiska föremålen. Hur kan ett ting, även utan engagemang, tillfälligt förvandlas till ett konstföremål?
